Not able to install Matlab 2011b

I have downloaded all the files related to Matlab r2011b from ( https://in.mathworks.com/downloads/ ) and kept them in a separate folder.
Next I start the installer by starting matlab_R2011b_win64_installer.exe ; After that I fill in the liscence details;
But when i am running the installer and asked to Enter the full path to the installation folder: in the folder selection
Then I'm getting either of these 2 messages:
One or more of the following products are required to proceed with the installation:
MATLAB 7.13 (Not available)
You must select a folder where at least one of these products is installed or select these additional products for installation.
OR
Cannot install to the same folder as the installer.
Please install in a different folder.

Which folder did you store the installer, and what did you you select as installation folder?
I have stored the installer along with all the files in: D:\temp\temp
and installing in : C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2011b
If I try to install in D:\temp\temp , then this appears
Cannot install to the same folder as the installer.
Please install in a different folder.
If I try to install anywhere else, then this appears
One or more of the following products are required to proceed with the installation:
MATLAB 7.13 (Not available)
You must select a folder where at least one of these products is installed or select these additional products for installation.
I'm not able to download such an old release, so I can't test if it is complete. The first error makes sense (you shouldn't install a program in the same place as the installer files). The second error suggest your download isn't complete.

And select matlab 2011b ; and download all the files which are there (pretty much work though, I had clciked on all of them one by one )
Nope:
Here I'm using the same link
Is there a particular reason you're trying to install a nearly ten year old release of MATLAB? Looking at the system requirements for that release I think the newest OS listed there is Windows 7 Service Pack 1, and Microsoft ended support for that OS a year and a half ago.
Yeah, I have an application which requires Matlab 2011b to run.
kindly refer to this post by me: https://in.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/851415-not-able-to-run-matlab-runtime-exe-file?s_tid=srchtitle
You would need to download at least MATLAB and MATLAB Compiler -- you cannot get to the MCR Installer just by installing MATLAB Compiler without MATLAB.
To Walter, I have download all the files which are listed in https://in.mathworks.com/downloads/ for Matab 2011b .
But now the error is coming in installing the programme! I am not able to instal this software on my computer
I just went through the sequence and had no difficulty.
  • download the installer exe into a new folder. The installer is a self-unpacking archive, but do not execute it at this time.
  • In the same directory, download the .zip files for the products you need, such as MATLAB 7.13 Common . Do not expand the .zip files -- this is important, the executable needs to see the .zip files.
  • navigate to the directory and double-click on the exe to start it unpacking and executing
  • Yes, permit updates
  • Yes, use internet to install
  • Select custom installation
  • At the bottom right of the product list, click to use downloaded products only
  • go through the install
I was able to succesfully instal the matlab.
but while running the exe file. I'm getting the following message:
I have checked my MATLAB mcr version it returns
>> [major,minor] = mcrversion
major =
7
minor =
16
What to do now?
Update:
I was able to add the mcr path to Matlab runtime to the environemnt of the advanced system settings. So that Matlab can find it. Following a helpful article by : https://in.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/343074-why-do-i-receive-could-not-find-version-x-x-of-mcr-when-running-my-compiled-app-and-mcr-is-instal
But now it's showing a different error:
Any help with this?
Did you separately install the MCR? The point of the MCR is that the target machine doesn't need to have Matlab installed.
Also, which OS are you running this on? And are you running as administrator, or normal user?
I typed :
mcrinstaller
in my command box.
Then followed this route.
C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2011b\toolbox\compiler\deploy\win64\MCRInstaller.exe
and installed it from here.
I am using windows 10.
From the system requirements Steven linked, you can see that Windows 7 is the last supported release. You should try installing the MCR on Windows 7 to confirm it works there.
It also doesn't help if you only answer one question at a time. Did you already try running it as administrator and with compatibility mode enabled? You could even try setting your system time back a few years, as that will sometimes help with old software.
Okay, then that means I won't be able to work on Win 10.
How to run as an adminstrator? Is it the normal right click and then pressing run as an admnistrator?
I'll tried that date and time thing but the same message is coming, that it fails to initialise!
Windows 10 is not supported. It might work, it might not. I was able to get Matlab 6.5 to work on Windows 10, despite only XP and older being supported.
Yes, that is the way to run a program as administrator. If you click on properties you can also set a compatibility mode.
I had no problem running the MCR installer on Windows 10. After using mcrinstaller at the MATLAB R2011b command line, then opened a command window and entered
"C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2011b\toolbox\compiler\deploy\win64\MCRInstaller.exe"
and let it run.
I have not tested whether an executable was able to find it, as I do not have any executables around that were compiled for that MCR.
I followed the procedure and installed the MCR.
But still the exe file is showing: mclmcr initialisation failed .
The properties window for the exe file are:
I also tried one of the comment and tried it on the win 7 compatibility mode (I'm using win 10 at the moment).
I suggest you call tech support and ask for free installation help.
No one picks up, I've tried a number of times. Also tried submitting a querry via email. No-one replied!
Did you account for the fact that it's currently Saturday and therefore weekend?

the version of 2011b is 7.13, not 7.16. There is not even a 7.16 listed, but since the error message says you need that then I guess you must need it but I don't know what year release it applies to.
Usually all you need to run an old standalone executable is the MATLAB MCR (run time library), which are available here:
But if you go there, for R2011b and earlier, it says: "Open MATLAB and run the command mcrinstaller to locate MATLAB Runtime for redistribution with your compiled components." So that means you need the full MATLAB IDE with the compiler toolbox, and I guess that is why you were trying to download it. But I if you were able to get a full MATLAB version 7.16, it would be very expensive since that Compiler toolbox is like $5k. If you don't have a version with the Compiler toolbox, the library will not be included in the download or installation. So in that case, your best bet is to try to get the run-time library from the person who created your standalone executable.

MATLAB 7.16 uses MCR 7.13
The user is Academic, and has access to older releases. Anyone who has a license for MATLAB compiler newer than R2011b is entitled to use the R2011b version.
