Simulink Coder targets for high-performance ADwin Ethernet-enabled hardware

With ADsim, Simulink models run on ADwin-Gold II and ADwin-Pro II hardware in real time with sample frequencies up to 100 kHz. The models can be executed in single-task mode or multitask mode, combining high-priority and low-priority tasks. Together with ADsimDesk and the ADsim blockset, ADsim offers an efficient and powerful tool for creating real-time applications such as controllers or plant models.

With just a few clicks, users can insert inputs and outputs for the ADwin system as blocks into the model and start C code generation with Simulink Coder. After compilation, the model runs on the ADwin system in real time with absolute timing precision and predictability.

ADsim contains Simulink blocks to access the ADwin hardware:

  • Analog and digital inputs and outputs, PWM outputs, SSI decoders
  • Universal counters: clock/direction, 4-edge evaluation, PWM analysis
  • CAN, CANdb, LIN, EtherCAT
  • Global ADwin and TiCo processor variables
  • EEPROM read and write

ADsim real-time processes use the global ADwin variables and arrays that can be accessed (read/write) from MATLAB through the standard ADwin MATLAB driver. The block parameters and signals of the Simulink models can be accessed (read/write) by using the additional ADsim driver. Users can create a comfortable interface using either the GUIDE tool in MATLAB or other common programming languages.
