How do I download MATLAB R2013b and earlier?

To download the MathWorks Installer:
  1. Go to your MathWorks account homepage: MathWorks Account.
  2. Locate the license you would like to download products for in the list. (Click "View additional Licenses or Trials" if you don't see it.)
  3. Click the downwards-pointing blue arrow on the same row as the license in question.
  4. Click the blue button labeled 'Download for <OS/Platform>" to download the MathWorks Product Installer for latest release of the product you have access to or select an older license in the menu on the left. NOTE: The default operating system shown is derived from the machine that you are accessing the Downloads page on. To download the MathWorks Product Installer for another operating system than the one listed, select the down arrow to the right of the blue button.
  5. If prompted by your browser to Run or Save the installer choose to save.
  6. Locate the installer in a file browser. It should be located in the default download location, unless you specified another location.
  7. Launch the Installer:
  • Windows: Double click the matlab_R20XXy_win64.exe to launch the installer. The Windows Self-Extractor will run, and then the installer will launch.
  • Mac: Double-click the matlab_R20XXy_maci/a64.zip. This will extract the files and automatically make another folder called matlab_R20XXy_maci64. Inside this folder, double-click InstallForMacOSX to launch the installer.
  • Linux: Unzip the matlabR20XXyglnxa64.zip file. From the extracted contents, run the install script.

These instructions can be used for R2014a and later. Earlier releases use a different installer.
Step 2: on the left side, select "Show More"
Step 3: still on the left side, select Show All
Step 4: click on R2014a (or as appropriate for your needs)
In the middle, a blue box will offer a platform.
Step 5a: If it is the wrong platform for you, click on the downwards triangle
Step 5b: and then click on the platform you do want.
Steps 5a and 5b may be omitted if it is already showing the platform you want.
Step 6, when it is showing the platform you want, click the blue button
Step 7: the installer will start downloading automatically, or possibly you will be asked where you want to store the downloader. The message that comes up will also show what MATLAB Central username you will need to authenticate against for this license.
