Make Network Licence Available Offline

32 views (last 30 days)
I am currently using a license through my company that requires an active connection to our internal network to use. However, there are times, especially during the COVID pandemic, where I am working remotely and don't have access to our network, e.g., flying, driving, VPN outages, etc. Additionally, VPN connections significantly slow down computations and other programs making it ideal to be disconnected from the company network (i.e., VPN). Is it possible to change the requirements of site licences so that we only have to connect to the network intermittently (e.g., daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) to verify our license? After the "check-in", Matlab would be availible for offline use for a designated period (e.g., 24 hours, one week, etc.). This would significantly improve my Matlab experience, especially when travelling.
Thank you

Are you using a type of license that supports license borrowing and has your license administrator enabled it?

I'm not sure. I've reached out to my admin and will add to this when he responds.
I wrote this "question" as more of a feedback than anything. I feel like the structure I described above should be standard and automatic. I don't think it would remove any revenue from Matlab and would improve the user experience dramatically. Additionally, it seems like this would be a fairly simple change that would require very little resources to excecute. Therefore, there seems to be much more upside than down side to implimenting this idea.
