Hi @Sam Chak , thanks for responding. I am aware of the nonlinear behaviour of the butterfly valve. I saw some extensive modeling in literature with the use of, for example, machine learning. However, I just want to have simplification like a linearization of this behaviour. What would you recommend for something like this?

Don't mention it, @DB. If you are already aware of the nonlinear behaviour, you can try deriving the mathematical model of the Butterfly valve yourself, or referring to the nominal models in the Journal papers and Manufacturer specification sheets.
Having the model, then some linearization methods can be applied as long as a desired specific operating point is known. If you have identified multiple operating points for the Butterfly valve, then the Gain-Scheduling technique can possibly be applied.
