plotting two different graphs

im using plot to graph one curve but now i need to plot a second curve on a different graph so how can i open 2 graphs from one script

Either use subplot like Image Analyst said, or use "hold on" after drawing the first graph so that the second graph goes into the same axes.

Try subplot(). This will let you have two plots on the same figure so you can see them both at the same time and don't have to keep switching between figures.
subplot(1, 2, 1);
plot(1:30);
subplot(1, 2, 2);
plot(200:247);
