Is it possible to use Usb virtual com port in Simulink Realtime?

Hello I have a sensor to measure two rotations ( Autocollimator) which use a virtual USB com port to send the data to computer. I have a target PC which run Simulink real time operating system and i need the sensor to send this data to this computer. Is it possible to write a driver for it. I Know how to write a device driver for ISA, PCI card but not a USB port.

When I looked at that documentation I was left with the impression that there was no USB support at all.

I started to write up a reply pointing out the factors that would lead to that conclusion, but then I found the support package for USB Video for Simulink Real-Time, and I also found an old Answers posting in which someone had used a USB device, and found an explicit reference in the documentation to a kernel USB table, so I realized that some USB support must be there after all. However, other than that, ... zilch.

ammar al jodah: one thing to note is that you cannot use vendor USB drivers for this purpose -- not unless those drivers were designed for use with Simulink Real Time.

Simulink Real-Time supports USB webcams (UVC), USB external drives (for data logging) and USB keyboard (target commands). Other/generic USB devices are not supported.

I recently noticed that SLRT supports the Logitech G29 Steering Wheel (PS3). I think this device uses a USB to connect to the target computer. How does it do it?

Hi,

Any update on this? I probably don't have the time / expertise to write my own virtual COM (CDC Interface) driver for SLRT, but stil have a desire to control Ascii (SCPI) instruments.
