If you've already read the data into MATLAB, see the missing data related sections on this documentation page.

If you're trying to read the data into a table using readtable, take a look at the TreatAsEmpty option or the replacement rules available in the SpreadsheetImportOptions object.

You can use readtable to read it in, then use ismissing()

data = readtable(filename);
badData = ismissing(data); % Map of what's missing (nan)
