How to copy GUI's figure and m-file and rename that to use another version?

First of all i made 'A' GUI to simulate. And I want to make another GUI version like from v1 to v2. So my choice is copy A and rename it B. When i was running m-file B, GUI figure B is appeared but it is connected A. I modified some source code on m-file B, but GUI's result is A's result. So i try to find my mistake so searching some keyword like copy, gui, rename on google. But I cant found what is my fault. So i want to know to how to connect GUI figure and m-file after copying.

Hey dear,if you have created the GUI by using GUIDE,then copy the open the .fig file (by right clicking and open as GUIDE)change according to your requirement and go to file change name to B and run it. try it , wish u all the best

No, that is not the way to do it, though it might seem like it. Believe me, I do this all the time.

What you want to do is to open your GUIA, then from the pulldown menu, do "File->Save as" and rename it to GUIB. This will make a copy the proper way. The beauty of it is that it doesn't just make a copy of GUIA.fig called GUIB.fig, it will also take GUIA.m and make all the numerous changes that need to be made and automatically save it as GUIB.m

Now you can start making edits to GUIB.m.

Try it and you'll see it works. Like I said, I do this all the time.

Did you mean open .fig or .m of the GUIs file? Because i dont see any pulldown menu there. Sorry i am newbie here

I meant to use the pulldown menu in GUIDE to do "File/Save as" to save it as a different name. This will create both a new fig file with that name, and also a new m file with that name.

Iam sorry for my stupidness. But i really don't know what you mean.does GUIDE mean that we are talking about is the matlab IDE ? Sorry iam a newbie

GUIDE is basically the dialog box editor for MATLAB. It's not the main MATLAB editor, but kind of like an applet that runs within MATLAB that has it's own development window. Just type guide on the command window and it will come up.

It's now recommended to use App Designer instead of GUIDE. http://www.mathworks.com/products/matlab/app-designer/

Yes i see now, but when i run GUIDE command, there isn't anything pulldown menu there. Just Browse(for browse the existing gui), Open, Cancel, Help buttons in OPEN EXISTING GUI tab, but in the CREATE NEW GUI tab the Browse button for save new figure in directory. Only have 2 tabs there.

You first have to either create a new one or open an existing one. THEN you can save a copy to a different name if you want. That's what Ki needed to do, but not necessarily what you need to do. I'm still not sure what you want to do and if it's the same as Ki or not.

So i created a GUI A yesterday. But i think i need the new layout (GUI B) as similar as GUI A. So i copied GUI A.fig and A.m from windows explorer and rename those file with B.fig and A.m. But when i ran those renamed file in Matlab IDE its ran the A files. I think i have the same purpose with the asker Ki Beom Son. But i dont get it to your answer. I dont see any dropdown menu File so i can do Save As. By the way i am using Matlab R2015B because my laptop run in 32 bit

Like I said, that is NOT the way to do it - by copying and renaming in File Explorer. That you should do is to open GUIA in guide, then, in guide, do File/save as, and call it guib.fig. It will then automatically make a guib.m created from guia.m but with all the other things fixed/renamed. Those other things don't get fixed and renamed if you do it in the operating system.

To Image Analyst. Actually you have answered my question, which is your accepted answer by Ki Beom Son. I already opened my GUI yesterday but there weren't anything dropdown menus there until i restart my laptop and the dropdown menus show up. Now i can save the GUI with different name. Thanks a lot Image Analyst !
