I'm really new to MATLAB and I keep running into the same problem. In the command line I'll be doing operations and ill lose the ">>" causing me to just type and not actually perform anything. How do I get back to the actual operation part of the command line, meaning how to I get ">>" to show up again?

What did you do to make the >> disappear? fprintf(etc) to the screen without a \n at the end? Or ...?

That can happen if you are accidentally still in the middle of a control structure such as if, or you are accidentally still in the middle of building an array using [ or { . In those cases, underneath the command entry area the status will change to "Continue entering statement"
If you are stuck entering a statement and you want to abandon it, press control-C
