Defining length of a x-axis

Is there some way to define the length of x-axis and y-axis on a graph? I'm ploting some complex data and I don't want to be shown the ones that are "far away" from zero.

xlim([x1 x2])
ylim([y1 y2])

Thank you for your answer. Can you be more specific, where to write this limitations, inside the plot()? This is my code
plot(fr_ori,'ro')
hold on
plot(fradi,'b+')
plot(frarno,'g*')
hold off

You can do it any time after the first plot.
