How to solve "There was a problem sending the command to the program."
Show older comments
After upgrading to Windows 10 I now have the following windows error message: "There was a problem sending the command to the program."
This happens when trying to open any MATlab associated file from the Windows file explorer. I've already tried to re-associate .m and .mat files to MATLAB 2015b again, but this does not solve the problem.
Matlab does startup, however the file does not open.
Does this problem sound familiar to anyone?

Contact Support quickly! I would telephone them, since this could be considered an installation problem.
The U.S. is about to begin a four-day holiday, so you might not otherwise be able to get help until 30 November.

I'm having the same problem. I upgraded from Win7 to Win10 and the problem started. I then uninstalled Matlab R2015b and installed R2016b, hoping that the problem would go away. Nope. :(

I am encountering the same problem. I tried the file association fix. Doesn't work. Still shows the error.
