upperLeft = dwt1_imData(1:r1, 1:c1); upperLeft; imshow(upperLeft,map);
now i want to apply dpcm on it. what will be the syntax. as i cant use * i=imread('upperLeft....')*

I don't know what dpcm is, but if it's a function, pass in the upperLeft array that you created to that function:
results = dpcm(upperLeft);
Don't put quotes around it to turn it into a string, just pass in the numerical variable itself like I did.
