MAC Version on Linux/ Windows

Hello!
I'm considering to buy a student version of Matlab and I'm wondering if I can use the software on different OSs. I want to buy a MAC version in the first place, but is it possible to use the purchased licence afterwards also with Linux/ Windows clients?
Best regards, Marcus

Here's the answer from the official Mathworks support
'Students can download for any OS, but will have to re-download for a change of Platform.'

  • Activation with a given serial number can occur on no more than two computers simultaneously.
  • Activation can be moved to a new machine
I seem to recall at some point reading limitations on the number of times per year that the activation could be moved to a new machine, but that might or might not only apply to some other kinds of licenses.

Hi Walter!
Wow, that was fast :-) Thanks for your reply.
Correct me if I'm wrong (or blind), but I cannot find any information if I can download an arbitrary client (MAC/ WIN/ LINUX). During the purchase process you have to decide which operating system you use and it is not obvious to me if I can download another version after I've downloaded my first one (MAC in my case); lets assume that I decide to switch OS in a year and I want to install the software on my WIN PC - is there a possibility to download the WIN client then and use my purchased license?
Thanks in advance!
Marcus: I would recommend contacting Installation & Licensing Support for answers to your questions.
Sorry, Mathworks didn't exist when I was a student, so I've never tried that myself.
Kaustubha's answer sounds appropriate to me.
Thanks to the both of your for your help.
I'm now a proud owner of Matlab R2011a :-)
