Interpolation

Fit interpolating curves or surfaces, estimate values between known data points

Interpolation is a method of estimating values between known data points. Use interpolation to smooth observed data, fill in missing data, and make predictions. Curve Fitting Toolbox™ functions allow you to perform interpolation by fitting a curve or surface to the data. For more information, see Interpolation Methods.

To fit an interpolating curve or surface, use the Curve Fitter app. Fit an interpolating curve or surface at the command line by using the fit function. For information on choosing an interpolant fit, see Selecting an Interpolant Fit.

Topics

  • Selecting an Interpolant Fit

Fit interpolant models in the Curve Fitter app or with the fit function.

  • Interpolation Methods

Apply interpolation methods to estimate values between known data points for curves and surfaces.
