UDC Design, Build and Fly Competition

The UDC Design, Build, and Fly (DBF) competition is an annual event organized by the Unmanned Aerial Systems Development Center (UDC), a scientific society affiliated with the Aerospace Engineering Department of Cairo University.

This competition is specifically designed for engineering students eager to enhance their knowledge and skills in designing small electric-powered UAVs. Throughout the competition, students are challenged to analyze mission requirements, conduct trade studies, perform aerodynamic and stability calculations, estimate aircraft performance, and present a technical design report justifying their design decisions. Moreover, they will be able to showcase their practical skills by building a functional aircraft prototype capable of executing the specified mission.

Students are encouraged to utilize MATLAB scripting to aid in their aircraft's analysis, simulation, and overall design. The UDC DBF competition concludes with an airshow attended by over 500 people, including professors and notable guests, featuring more than 150 students competing.
