I have recently bought a new Macbook Pro 2011 and I noticed that on it the new version of Matlab2011a doesn't display the axes titles written with the Latex interpreter. It instead displays a rotated black rectangle with a question mark in it. It was working fine on my previous Macbook. I don't know which special updates I received with the new 2011 Macbook Pro, that have disrupted this functionality. Any help in this regards would be appreciated.

You may try the workaround in this bug report : Incorrect handling of LaTeX symbols

I tried to do it but the Apply system warning suggested that the Matlab fonts have serious problems and are dangerous for the system. They may even lead to crash of the system. So that's why I didn't do it. Besides when I try to browse for Matlab fonts, I could not just do it easily. When I asked for the package content of Matlab application in Application folder, I could access the named directory. I then tried to add fonts manually, but got this warning so didn't proceed. Do you think that it is safer to add these fonts despite the warning.
