- Attempting to run MATLAB 6.5.x (R13) on unsupported versions of Windows later than Vista.
- When you are on a Windows XP machine with a standalone installation and multiple users are logged into it. To resolve the issue in this situation, the additional users must log out.
- Attempting to run R2007b or older via a Remote Session or Virtual Machine. If you are using Hyper-V, disable "Enhanced Session" in the "View" tab.

When I try to open MATLAB through a Remote Desktop Connection, I get the following error:
License Manager Error -103
Terminal Server Remote Client not allowed

Running MATLAB through terminal services is not supported for R2006a or earlier. However, in some scenarios, Microsoft Remote Desktop can be used to run MATLAB R2006b or later releases.

move to \licenses folder, open the *.lic file, replace all the "SIGN=" to "TS_OK SIGN=", save and problem solved.

This error 103 only occurs for situations involving network licenses, and involves a change to the license file that is stored on the server. Freshman students would not be administrating these files. If you encounter this problem then you should inform the IT support people responsible for the license.
Exception: Some cracks to use MATLAB without authorization involve changes that could potentially result in this error being given. The fix in such a case would be to obtain a paid version of MATLAB.
