How to use "dos" command in matlab!

Hello,
i have built a gui who is writing a xml-file for. now i want to start an external program called "sumo" with the windows console.
status = dos('C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe');
[status, result] = dos ('C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe','sumo-gui -c szenario.sumo.cfg');
i want that the dos command opens and this "'sumo-gui -c szenario.sumo.cfg'" should be peformed!
but on my way it doesnt work!
Thank you for your help!!

dos ('sumo-gui -c szenario.sumo.cfg') this should do in my opinion, provided path of sumo is in the windows path.

by the way, what is the first line, status = dos('C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe'); doing in your code?
i thought it is important to open the console!
No need to open the console. 'dos' itself does that if needed. you can just do a dos ('sumo-gui -c szenario.sumo.cfg').
