Why is Matlab so long to display a plot?

Dear all, I wondered about sthg: how do Matlab display ".fig" plots when you click on it in order to open it? I mean, it is very long to display, while it is simply a x-y plot with ~400 points. Moreover, it takes a large amount of memory just for the display (I am dealing with hundreds of megabytes just to display one plot!). Is there a solution for it to be more efficient, less slow and less memory-consuming? Thank you for you answer. AC

Where do you click on the fig file? Which operating system are you using? Where do you determine the memory consumption? What exactly means "open it"?
