How can I get the residual signal from my data?

Hello,

I have 2 types of current data and each of them has 2 components (rate & direction): tidal currents which are predicted for every 5 minutes and (total) current data measured at different time. The total current data includes the tidal currents but also the current induced by the wind. Therefore, I would like to find a way to remove the tidal currents component from the total current data and get the residual current.
