Close all and figures

Hi,
I would like to know, why when I try to close open figures with "close all" function it takes the interlocutor a lot of time and in the "Task Maneger" I saw it's take a lots of memory (70%-80%), it happens to me suddenly even though in the past it was not.
Please your advise,
