Where is surf() result?

Can't see the plot even in the documentation example:

[X,Y] = meshgrid(-2:.2:2);                                
Z = X .* exp(-X.^2 - Y.^2);

Then, create a surface plot.

surf(X,Y,Z)

Oops. I can see it now after adding ; to the end of the the line with surf command ;-)
