How can I use the simplfied synchronous generator in SimPowersystems in a phasor simulation type?

I am attempting to use a simplified synchronous generator from the Simpowersystems lab in modeling a distribution system for my Smartgrid class. I want to sue this generator as the power source becacause it will allow the sutdents to develop a control system for its output voltage. Ultimately we wouild like to model the behavior of the system over a 24 hour period and incorporate changing loads and renewable energy sources. Unless I can run in phsor mode, the simulation time and memory required will be prohibitive. When I add the generator to the distribution network and run in continuous mode over a short period (10 seconds) I get the expected voltages in the circuit. When I run the simulation in phasor mode, I get absurd values, like 3e108. what is going on with this model block and how do I correct it? Are their example models that use this block in phasor mode that I can look at?

power_simplealt can be switched to phasor mode, there will be a small perturbance at start, but then it works.
