I'm owning and using Matlab 6.5 on Windows XP; how can I get updated for Windows 7 or 8 ?

My Matlab version is 6.5.0.18091a Release 13. it is working on a 32 bit windows XP system. I have to skip to Windows 7 because XP is now obsolete. What do I have to do to avoid buying a new Matlab software ?

You have to run your MATLAB in compatibility mode, or under a virtual XP window. Your MATLAB version is not compatible with Windows 7 directly.

I've lately discovered how to run MATLAB 6.5 natively under Windows 7. See my solution at http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/newsreader/view_thread/328329
