Which trial package should I select?

11 views (last 30 days)
I started to download a trial version of MatLab, but got stuck on the page where it asks me to choose a "trial package" from the 17 listed. All I want to do is experiment with it for analyzing (mean, std dev) and graphing some sample data. Which package should I choose? MatLab Essentials?
Thanks

I am not familiar with this selection. Can you share a screenshot of the window?
The functions you mention are present in the base Matlab, so you don't need any toolboxes for those functions.

I hope this screenshot shows up. I'm having a little trouble getting used to this discussion board software. It's quite different from any other I have ever used.

I'm just going to try a few plots to get a feel for the UI. So I just need the basic tools. If I like it, I'll buy a license.
If I select the MatLab Essentials package and then find that I need something else, can I add it?

I just selected Machine Learning and it went right to the installation. It did not give me a chance to select anything else.
I'm only going to do simple graphs of some medical data and generate a trend line. So I think I'll start over and grab the MatLab Essentials package.
This trial process is more complicated and less intuitive than it needs to be, IMHO. It definitely does not give a good first impression of Mathworks.

I just noiticed that it does tell me that I can add more toolboxes. Here's a screen shot of that dialog:
So I'll start with the essentials and add more if I need them.

Probably. However if you happen to want box plots then take the Statistics and Machine Learning Toolbox too.

Since R2020a there is a boxplot function in base Matlab as well: boxchart.
