I have installed the OS generic Package with the linux files installed as shown below.
I am unsure if the gstream I have installed are satisfactory to enable it to work.
kevin@kevin-Inspiron-15-7000-Gaming:~$ dpkg -l libgst* | grep ^i
ii libgstreamer-plugins-bad1.0-0:amd64 1.2.4-1~ubuntu1.1 amd64 GStreamer development files for libraries from the "bad" set
ii libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0:amd64 0.10.36-1.1ubuntu2.1 amd64 GStreamer libraries from the "base" set

The actual issue is that the installed adaptor (linuxvideo) isn't showing up. Looking at the other forums there is a possiblity of it not working due to compatibility issues with ubuntu 14.04 and the generic hardware package.
I have tested my camera on my windows computer and it works perfectly where the generic OS uses 'winvideo'.
Lastly I have installed the following video4linux packages.
