original_mat(1:17,:)=[];
original_mat(:,1:17)=[];
In the following example I have deleted 1 to 2 rows and columns of 5x5 matrics
original_mat=randi(10,[5,5])
original_mat(1:2,:)=[];
original_mat(:,1:2)=[];
original_mat
Results:
original_mat =
9 7 10 5 8
7 6 6 4 9
3 2 1 8 4
4 2 1 4 7
2 5 9 6 10
original_mat =
1 8 4
1 4 7
9 6 10
