Artificial Neural Network inputs?

Dear All

I'm new in ANN and Matlab, I wanted to design ANN architecture and I had a problem in term of input. My input is included pictures, topography and discharge and all of them have a different genre. Is it necessary for input data to be uni-genre or not? what sort of input should be normalized before placing in Matlab as an input?
