How do we simulate battery charging profile along with power electronics control loop (voltage, current) for typical lead acid battery (10hrs simulation time)

1 view (last 30 days)
Hi,
I am trying to simulate battery charger system consisting of power electronic systems with closed loop control for a lead acid battery. However, to get correct profile battery needs to be charged for 10hrs. How can we implement this simulation without actually running program for 10hrs.

Hello Sachin,
To get the fastest speed, you will want to use average models for your power electronics. This is fine for simulating your battery profile and testing closed loop control. To not simulate the full 10 hours, you can test your charger at different values of state of charge and look at the detailed simulation of the switch behavior for those small snapshots.
Here is a landing page specifically for simulating batteries: https://www.mathworks.com/solutions/power-electronics-control/battery-models.html

Joel
