Matlab 2018b running very slowly on Macbook Pro 2015

I recently upgraded from 2016b to 2018b, and Matlab is now running VERY slowly. Activity Monitor says that Matlab is using 1.07 Gb of ram. That seems like a lot, although admittedly I never checked what 2016b ran at since this was never an issue. Does any one else have this issue or know how to solve it?

Me too. I updated from 2017b and the editor freezes the computer. I have a full specs Macbook pro from 2014.
