How to map simulink inports to workspace signals explicitly?

Hello,

I am trying to build a model which has many inports. I need to map these inports explicitly (in a custom way/order) to prepared signals which are stored in the workspace.

With the available documentation about programmatic mapping as the function getRootInportMap I was not able to achieve this. getRootInportMap requires block names of inports and the corresponding signals as character strings or vectors. The problem with this method is, that it only accepts inports at the first level of the model. Subsystem-inports are not found. F.e.: " Model 'modelname' does not have a block named 'Subsystem/BasicIn1'".

Does anybody have a solution on how to access inports in deeper subsystem levels with this method or totally different method to achieve my goal?
