Why my fractal image compression code doesn't work at MRI image

Hello, currently i'm using a code to compress a MRI medical image but it's failed to compress that image. Could anyone help me solve this problem. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Below is the error i found in MATLAB Command Window
Error using qtdecomp>ParseInputs (line 136)
A must be two-dimensional.
Error in qtdecomp (line 87)
[A, func, params, minDim, maxDim] = ParseInputs(varargin{:});
Error in main (line 18)
s=qtdecomp(I,0.1,[1 64]);%divides image using quadtree decomposition of

The code is designed for single grayscale images. The MRI image you are using might be color or might be a series of slices all stored in the same file.
