Hi, i have one doubt in relation to matlab options for trading.
I would like to know if it is possible to use Matlab like a program which is able to create automated trading strategies, and these strategies can be use (directly) in stock markets with a broker. Or, if otherwise, Matlab cannot offer this option and it is necessary to use other programs which have a contract with a broker or something similar.
Thanks in advance and sorry for any inconvenience.

I hope you have been able to use matlab as a trading tool, I have no success, the toolboxes which have some connectivity, have tools that only can be used by professionals that can invest monthly in high amount of money on a trading and have trading account in brokers which will facilitate the trading, the most achievable is IB broker as i see it now, TT technologies and on the other side is the data feed from IQFEED API is not working as expected it block and don’t respond, I have not been the only one with this problem, which i did try to reach matlab and IQFEED in which due to persistence, matlab support suggested an external API that works well and solve the problems but is too expensive, and from the side of IQFEED they had been forced to stop giving support to matlab customers, due to a feedback receive (complain from matlab to IQFEED) as i was inform from IQFEED.
on the other side, had not found other Brokers with direct matlab API or willing to give the information on how to manage the data transfer and make your own API, also checked many other blogs on the same matter and have not been successfully on the quest.
As a tool for analysis it looks great and I love it, but I have not gone so far as other blog comments that found flaws in some of the toolboxes for investing and comment on the poor maintenance of this tool boxes.
I whish that some one in Matlab with enough power could take this and fix all their problems and improve their product for quantitative trading or algo trading as a full or good complement for other trading platforms.
if you have found a way to go with matlab, i would apetiate the feedback.
at this point, it seems to me more stable and strong the Python and R.
I have no doubt that there may be other ways to over come this problem, but the information on structurees and way the data is process from the brokers or other trading platforms is not available to help you going on that way.

Matlab is very flexible, so sure, it will be possible, at the very least with some external tools you control with Matlab. Matlab might not be the ideal tool, but it is very likely you can bodge something together.
If you have a specific Matlab question, you can post them on this forum. You can have a read here and here to greatly improve your chances of getting an answer.

There are a number of products available for computational finance applications. In particular, Trading Toolbox sounds like it would be useful for the workflow you described.

Yes it's possible to use MT4 to interact with Matlab. Have a look at this article PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF NEURAL NETWORKS IN TRADING. there is also a book written but it's in Russian Neuronet trading system Meta Trader 4 and MATLAB. Step-by-step development
MT4/5 is accessible from a lot of brokers on the internet.
Cheers
