I am trying to publish a message to a ROS topic using Matlab, and then access that topic on a robot. The process works in reverse: I can use Matlab to read messages published by the robot. I can also create a topic in Matlab and see that change reflected on the robot. However, I can't get a message through to the robot; echoing the topic in Matlab shows the message, but echoing it on the robot shows nothing.
I am working with some code that worked with Matlab 2016b, but I'm using Matlab 2017a. Has anything changed that would cause this issue?

A possible issue is that your firewall software may be interfering and blocking some ports that are required for publishing ROS messages. Disabling any firewall software might help in resolving the issue.

This solved my problem! I just disabled firewall protection from antivirus software.
