After installing the 2016a matlab version, I am not able to open any Matlab file in an exiting open Matalb window!

Hi, After installing the 2016a matlab version, I am not able to open any Matlab file in an exiting open Matalb window! i.e., even if a Matlab session is open and I am trying to open a .m file it will open a new session of Matalb, and simultaneous displays the Matlab error box with the following message "There was a problem sending the command to the program".
However, the file can be opened through "open" option in File menu.
Could you please help to rectify the issue?
Thank you! Aravind Harikumar

Hi,
This sounds like a Dynamic Data Exchange Problem. Have you already tried to re-associate .m and .mat files to MATLAB 2016b again?
Dynamic Data Exchange is a windows communication protocol to avoid running multiple instances of a program. There are probably other fixes for this problem as well.
I hope this could help.

I uninstalled other Matlab version. Hence all .m/.mat files are associated with Matlab 2016a by default. Whatsoever, I tried re-associating them again, but the problem still exists.
At some point I had both Matlab 2016a and Matlab 2014b installed in my system. The problem started after i uninstalled Matlab 2014b. I guess I need to try a installation!?
