Hi,
For writing the dicom images, matlab offers some methods for compression. For example one is JPEG lossy and JPEG lossless. There are several types of algorithms for encoding the image in the literature.
The basic method for lossy is image=>dct=>Quantization=>RLE or (RLE+DPCM)=>huffman encoding.
And I wonder if the method for lossless jpeg is directly image=>RLE=>Huffman ? (or image=>huffman only?)
Does Matlab uses the same structure for lossy jpeg dicom compression? Please let me know I need help
Thanks in advance

Thank you Walter! Does matlab uses the same algorithm steps when I use CompressinMode for jpeg lossy and lossless like in that web page?
And do these algorithms work also for 10 bit images? Or there is a different method for 10bit images for dct, quantization, entropy coding etc.?
I have asked you lots of questions up to now but your answers have gold standarts for me

Digging into the code, I see that the dicomwrite() routines end up calling imwrite() for jpeg lossless and jpeg lossy modes. The "bits" setting is passed in to the imwrite() call.
