I displayed several values on a World map using the text function. After I zoomed in the values went out of the borders of the plot as shown on the image below. How do I hide those values? I already tried setting the limits of the axis but it didn't work. I have over 400 values and I need to zoom in to several places so I don't want to search and display just the values betwwen the borders.

For historical reasons, the default value of the text object's Clipping property is 'off'. You can override that:
subplot(2,1,2)
text(.25,1.1,'You can see this')
text(.75,1.1,'You cannot see this','Clipping','on')
