How can I force the pre 2014b UI ordering

On my computer, having Matlab 2015b installed, I want to run quite a large MATLAB program, that includes a programmatically written GUI, i.e., without GUIDE. With the changes of the GUI system in 2014b, the display ordering of elements was changed, which is why the layout of the said program is only partly shown in many places. See here for the problem: Why Are Some Components Missing or Partially Obscured?
Now, is there any way I can fix this "globally" without having to dig through the code and change all the layouting? It would be nice if I could set some kind of "compatibility mode" that displays the GUI like in old MATLAB versions.
Thank you very much!
