Activating MATLAB 2015a trial package on Ubuntu14.04.

I've installed MATLAB 2015a trial package on Ubuntu but I'm still stuck at activation page. When I try to run 'matlab' command on terminal as normal user, it shows following error:

    Error 1,731: Activations are not allowed when License Management is set to MathWorks hosted license manager

When I try to run the same command as root user, it shows a login screen but after filling all credentials it shows error in login. My institute network uses proxy but I don't know how to check if it is the reason.

Vishnu, which packages are included in your trial?

What is the error message about login that it shows?

In reviewing other threads I see a couple of people reporting that their ~/.matlab ended up owned by someone else; make sure the directory and everything under it are owned by you.

I have got the same problem. There is no satisfying solution at the faq nor the community nor the web. Many people seem to have the same problem. Some say you have to ask the support guys as I just did. imo this is a ridiculous issue and a bad reputation for a "trial version". As for me, the trial of matlab failed until they get it running proper.

My mail to the support via the official template was rejected. This is the worst experience with a software company ever, ever. I´m out, bye bye matlab...

Same activation error and issue with support template - what a disaster :-((( Only wanted to install the trail version for following a course at the university. Need to submit my work by sunday - my first experience with Mathlab is a BAD one. This first impression will unfortunattely always remain
