Matlab automatically starts when I open Terminal on my MAC

Hello,
I have Matlab version 15 and I was using my terminal and looking through all the folders because I was looking for a file. I believe I opened the startup file in my root. Now every time I open terminal Matlab opens automatically and I cannot run commands on my terminal until I close the Matlab program. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to prevent this?
Thanks.

This has nothing to do with cron. You have created a shell initialization file that mentions matlab. Check your ~/.bashrc ~/.bash_profile ~/.bash_login ~/.profile ~/.bashrc

I'm not sure why I didnt think of this! I resolved the issue thank you!
Which file turned out to be the problem?
Nice! Thank you Mr. Roberson. I had pasted the path to my Matlab, "just for a minute", into my .bashrc in order to add it to an alias, and promptly forgot all about it. That's the last time I use a system file as a "scratch pad".

it seems you have created a Cron Job (Scheduled Task), matlab is triggered as soon as you open Terminal.

Thank you for the response. Do you know how I can undo this? Or can you refer me to a good website?
cron would be an unlikely culprit. cron tasks are not triggered when you run a particular executable.
