When I ssh into my desktop computer which is running matlab 2025, and execute a matab script, eg running this command:
matlab -nodisplay -nosplash -nodesktop -r "run('/home/user/run_script.m');exit;"
matlab unceremoniously crashes. Screenshots attached.
This only started happening after updating to Matlab 2025 (so I could use the Deep Learning toolbox).
Please help! This makes it impossible to run any scripts remotely.

MATLAB 2025 crashes when running over SSH with the -nodisplay -nosplash -nodesktop options. Is there a way to configure it to ignore the Among Us Qt platform plugin and just run pure scripts?

@Meg Noah I didn't use any of the -XY tags initially, but using -XY actually solves this issue for the specific script I'm running! thanks for the idea :)

Hello @Veronica,
When running MATLAB R2025a scripts remotely via SSH, crashes may occur if certain required system dependencies are missing, particularly on Linux installations.
Below is a list of the linked dependencies. Please ensure that all of them are installed on your system.
You can also try a workaround by setting:
export QT_QPA_PLATFORM=vnc
This setting can help MATLAB run scripts in environments without a display server.
I hope this helps!

is this version of Matlab compatible with ubuntu 20.04? the requirements say support for 20.04 will be discontinued in a future release, but a number of the package requirements are not available in 20.04 (also i had to use the listed package requirements for 22.04 because there aren't any listed for 20.04)
