License Manager Error -7 has 3 possible causes:
- Network License Manager is out of date
- Not using the Enterprise License Manager when needed
- Connection issues
Network License Manager is out of date
running a new release of MATLAB using a network license that has not had the network license manager updated yet. A license administrator will need to update the license manager running on the designated license server to resolve this issue. For instructions regarding the update process, see the following article:
How do I update the network license manager?
Not using the Enterprise License Manager when needed
If you are using an Enterprise license, but are not using the Enterprise License Manager. If this is the case, you will see "Error 1303" appearing in the Network License Manager's log file. Please download the Enterprise License Manager to proceed. To do so, follow these steps:
- Go to the Downloads page and sign in if requested.
- Select "Get License Manager" under the I WANT TO menu.
- Click the blue button labeled 'Download for <OS/Platform>" under the Enterprise License Manager section to download the Enterprise License Manager.
Connection issues
It is possible a firewall is blocking the client and Network License Manager from making a necessary socket connection to each other. If you are using software such as Zscaler, please allow the client and Network License Manager to communicate with each other, and ensure that a connection socket can be made on the computer hosting the Network License Manager and the client can connect to the socket.
