I am trying to sign out of my MATLAB account on the desktop app, yet it is not letting me.
I keep getting this message, although I have nothing open aside from MATLAB and no scripts are running: Before signing out you must:
  • Close all MATLAB sessions, including the current one.Note: Restarting MATLAB requires internet access.

Hi Alejandro,
This error typically occurs because there is a matlab.exe process running somewhere on the machine.
To resolve this issue, check all processes (from all users) to see if there is a matlab.exe running in the background before continuing.
If you cannot find any matlab.exe running and you receive the error again, try restarting the computer before attempting sign out again.
I hope this was helpful.

To resolve this issue, you can try to close all the MATLAB sessions including the one from which the "Sign Out" button is clicked.
Once, the "Sign Out" button is click on MATLAB Desktop window, a pop-up appears. While the pop-up is open, close all the sessions of MATLAB and then click on the "Sign Out" button in the pop-up. Another pop-up appears in which you again click on "Sign Out" to successfully sign out of MATLAB desktop.

Maybe u can try to close all the matlab programs in the task manager; in the section of details and if that doesn't work, the other option is to switch to a different version, i had some troubles with the 2024 version but not with the 2025, so i hope that this can help u.
