Support packages in Matlab online (Hyperspectral Imaging Library)

5 views (last 30 days)
I am working in a Matlab Online environment (GDPR protection of the data makes it impossible to work on the data locally) and I am working with Hyperspectral data. I have been trying to download the "Image Processing Toolbox Hyperspectral Imaging Library", but the installer is not working when double-clicking it (I downloaded from file exchange and it works on my local Matlab install). I read a comment that the library is not supported in MATLAB Online as support packages are not supported: https://se.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/76796-image-processing-toolbox-hyperspectral-imaging-library?tab=discussions#discussions_2550496 . But this doesn't add up with the existing documentation site: Install Support Packages for MATLAB in MATLAB Online Server . Is that library specifically not supported, is the documentation site wrong, is it a user-error when I'm trying to install or have I misunderstood something? The Matlab version is R2023b.
Thanks for any response.
PS: I added the GDPR clarification to avoid answers like "Just use Matlab locally", please keep it to the question asked.

The link that you pointed to, Install Support Packages for MATLAB in MATLAB Online Server - MATLAB & Simulink - MathWorks United Kingdom, is not for 'MATLAB Online', it is for 'MATLAB Online Sever' which is a product for those who want to set up a private version of MATLAB Online on their own hardware. MATLAB Online Server - MATLAB (mathworks.com).
I'm sorry but The Hyperspectral Imagine Library is currently not supported in MATLAB Online which you can see if you click on Add-ons from within MATLAB online and search for the library there. Screenshot below
I have added your need for this to our internal request database.

Thank you for the clarification! I am using Matlab through Jupyterlab on a private server, so I presume that this package is compatible then and it is user-error in installing the packages? I see no limitations that should apply in this case (https://github.com/mathworks/jupyter-matlab-proxy/blob/4a1fcf0dbb093dd5bf51bd25c5454399b302db31/limitations.md#limitations)

Indeed. It should work since you are referring to a totally different environment.
The only thing that comes to mind is that maybe you do not have install privileges on the server in question?
Do you have admin access to the server?
