I have a graph that represents values in two dimensions x,y in the normal way on the left and below but I want to add an extra x axis that is the same as the other but inverted and appears on the top

This documentation explains how to do multiple axes.
And then you'll need to set the XDir property of one of the axes to "reverse" (if that is what you mean by "inverted").
