Hello, I'm running a neural network and I'm trying to evaluate the performance. When i get the performance plot it is shown Mean Squared Error in the Y axis
but when I seach about it I get the Half Mean Squared Error, is this the same thing just divided by 2? What about M and N?
Is different the loss function from the MSE?
I need to identify what is the formula from the mse shown in the y axis. Should I put the standard MSE formula or this half mean squared error?
Thank you

Hi Joan,
As per my understanding, we use half mean squared error only because we need to because when you take the derivative of the cost function, the multiplier is cancelled, and the derivation is cleaner. It makes the math easier to handle and adding a half or not shouldn't matter since minimizing is unaffected by constants.
