Why do I receive an error "Failed to start the connector with error: Dynamic exception type: class std::runtime_error
std::exception::what: Did not start the server. Desired port was: 31515. Last error was: Error while starting socket: 127.0.0.1:31614, Invalid argument" when attempting to install MATLAB?

This error is indicates that the loopback port is being blocked or does not exist. There are many things that can cause this including, but not limited to:
  • Installing from a shared drive. Move the installer to a local drive. 
  • Antivirus/security software
  • Operating System firewalls
  • Misconfigured VPN
  • Misconfigured hosts file
If you would like to install MATLAB onto a shared network drive, run the installer from a local drive and set the destination to your network drive to avoid this error.
