Assign value to individual components of the complex number

I'd like to assign the value to individual components of the complex numer.

>> x = 1;
>> y = 1;
>> H = complex(x,y);

Now I'd like to change the only real part and only the imaginery part

pseudocode: H.real = 10;
pseudocode: H.imag = 10;

and expecting

pseudocode answer: H = 10+10i

How to do it in Matlab?

I don't know what you consider simple. You could also do,

H=10 + 1i*imag(H);
H=real(H)+10i

How about already on the left side of the equation?

"H.real" = ....
    

Hmmm, I guess, you already assign to the complex number ...

Why not as follows?

[u,t]=deal(0:N-1);

arg=(-2*pi/N).*u(:).*t;

H=complex(cos(arg)*h(:) , sin(arg)*h(:));

Or, if you must use loops,

[Re,Im]=deal(zeros(N,1));

gam=-2*pi/N;

for u=0:N-1
    for t=0:N-1
       Re(u+1)= Re(u+1)+cos(gam*u*t)*h(t+1);
       Im(u+1)= Im(u+1)+sin(gam*u*t)*h(t+1);
    end
end

H=complex(Re,Im);
