How can I add a font to Matlab's list of available fonts?

I'd like to add a ttf font (see attachment).

axis([0 2 0 2]);
h=text(1,1,'Hello chess: K Q R B N','FontName','FigurineSymbol T1')

I have already tried:

(1) Installed fonts (Windows 7>>right-click on ttf file>>Install); tested fonts in MS Word; executed above code >> no success (font is not available in Matlab). By the way this used to be Mathworks suggested solution ( see Jan 2012) - by the way this worked for me two years ago as well.

(2) copied ttf files into Matlab's ttf folder (C:\MATLAB\R2014b\sys\fonts\ttf\cm); executed above code >> no success

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
